Photo Berlusconi Bunga Bunga: the dead zone

Stories and News No. 315

The web is abuzz.
The voice came out a few days ago.
As many of you know, it would be arriving some compromising photos on Berlusconi in the famous Bunga Bunga at Arcore.
I am talking about Silvio Berlusconi without any clothes and his girl friends at party, just to be clear.
Now, before these images are disseminated by the newspapers - if indeed that will happen - I wish to underline a point that I consider essential.
Let’s go beyond the old horny obsessed with young girls.
Think about his supporters and imagine the picture that, in theory, most disqualifies him in their eyes.
I did and I reminded of a 1979 book written by Stephen King, an author of novels that I particularly appreciate: The Dead Zone.
The latter was adapted into a film directed by David Cronenberg and starring Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen.
For those not familiar, summarizing, Walken is Johnny Smith, a man that after a traffic accident ends in coma and when he wakes up discovers that has acquired the power to predict the future of every person he touches.
The story leads him to shake hands with the candidate in the Senate Greg Stillson, played by Sheen, being aware of a terrible event: he will become president of the United States and will lead the world to nuclear war.
To save the planet, Smith finds no other solution than killing Stillson.
Forgive me if I reveal the ending, King says that there is something more powerful than a rifle shot: a photo…

The Story:

Johnny Smith pointed his gun at the target without any hesitation…

Greg Stillson does the first thing that a man like him would do in a situation like this: he tries to save himself at any cost…

His problem is that in the world there is the most important weapon to defend the people: the eye of the press…

Johnny, unlike Stillson, has a conscience, the same one that drove him to that extreme act and is forced to give up…

This was fatal, because the bodyguard of Stillson does not show as much hesitation and hit him to death…

Stillson reaches Smith, curious to know the reason for the attack; he was always sure to be loved by all…

In that moment Johnny grabs the hand of the politician…

And he sees a new future…

So Stillson's career was cut by a photo.

Unfortunately, this is just a story.
I will seem pessimistic, but I have the distinct impression that in my country, those people who still persist in trusting Silvio are so blind that there is no picture that could change their mind…
